Treating Myself!!

After speaking to Steve, he had suggested that I hire a better camera from uni for my photos.
I didn't want the hassle with getting insurance.
So I treated myself to some new lenses to improve my DSLR!

Im so happy with my purchases, made a real difference.

I was advised to get the Canon 17-40mm f/4L zoom lens..
A tad expensive but overall a great quality lens!

I also purchased a Canon 50mm 1.8 lens.
This lens is so unbelievable for the price, the depth of field is amazing, I am so happy with it!
lens and UV filter for as little as £86.. BARGAIN!

Introduction to my work

My work is based on social boundaries set in place in our everyday life. The constraints of our social norms, our rules and regulations on how to live our life. How we talk, who we talk to, how we present ourselves; the invisible puppet strings that control our every move, our every thought.

The idea of my work is to find different ways to confine people in different spaces and environments. I want to read between the lines of the life we perceive as normal, boring, everyday; yet when you actually think about it , every inch is monitored by these so called norms. To do this I will work my way towards making a sculpture that influences the feelings of its audience. I want my audience to feel anxious, used, exploited and insignificant when they are around my sculpture (like a cage, suffocated if you will). This is because when it comes down to it, you are insignificant, just a tiny cog in this massive socially, politically constructed universe.

My work is largely based on the audience’s reaction.

Inital Thoughts

The society we live in today is constructed by social norms and restraints against everyone as individuals.

Every thing we do is determined by these norms, our decisions, our actions and the way we live our everyday life.

If these "rules" weren't put in place, there would be complete chaos.

They were produced almost unconsciously.

Yet if you really look into them, you will see how overpowering they truly are.
