Confinement Expriments - Early Work

Do you ever notice the spaces in which we are trapped in everyday??

Why only use this small space to store your stuff? Why is it not bigger? Why is it that size?

The most common thing we use everyday - the toilet.
You lock yourself within a cubical, because that is what we perceive as normal. Privet, alone.

Even were we wash our hands; the sink even acts as a "space" for the pure purpose to wash hands.

And even more to the point, tiny signs, navigate us to the "correct" toilet to use.
Something so insignificant as a sign the size of my hand, directs us, ad we abide by it.

 Experimenting
To get the ball rolling, I want to conduct a few simple experiments.  After I began to look at confined public places for example toilet cubicles or elevators.
I wanted to play around with the idea of having a participant ‘confined’. To do this I would place them with in a make shift ‘space’ I have made out of wood. I will place them in a public area, for example the town centre, and play with how I can photograph this to give the impression of being constrained.

I asked Chris to stand within my “space” on a public street, close to the city centre. After toying with a few ideas into how to portray confinement, I began to experiment with my shutter speed.
I thought this would give the impression that every thing around Chris was in movement , yet he wasn’t. He was confined.
I did this by setting my shutter speed to 2” seconds, my ISO to 100 and my lens size to F10, and waited for passing cars and pedestrians.
